What do we need to bring?
Food, clothes, a camera, raincoat and your sense of adventure. Your cottage has everything you need to be warm and comfortable.
Do you have reduced tariffs for longer stays?
Yes, reduced tariffs apply for all stays over 3 nights – if this is you, then please contact us directly instead of using our booking system.
How far is the lake?
Less than 1 km away. About a 1 minute drive.
Is there somewhere we can buy a meal?
Yes, there are two restaurants and a takeaway shop all within a couple of minutes drive.
Is there somewhere we can buy groceries?
Yes, there is a small local store in Manapouri township and two large supermarkets in Te Anau about 20 minutes drive away.
How far away is the departure point for Doubtful Sound tours?
Just a two minute drive – follow the signs to Pearl Harbour once you are in Manapouri.
Is there anywhere close we can go for walks?
Yes, short walking tracks are at nearby Lake Manapouri. Or there are many longer tracks close by – anything from 3 hours walk up to a full day.
Should we drive to Milford Sound and how long does it take?
Absolutely. No visit to Fiordland is complete without going to Milford. It takes about two and a half hours to drive there, but you should leave early and allow all day. It is fabulous and you will need to stop often for photo opportunities and short walks.
Can we go kayaking in the Sounds? Yes, local operators take parties for full day guided kayaking tours on both Doubtful and Milford Sounds.
Are the cottages serviced each day and what does that consist of?
Your cottage is serviced as required, however some people are happy to look after themselves, just let us know. Service consists of replenishing complimentary tea/coffee, sugar, laundry detergent, etc, bathroom wiped out and fresh towels if required. Recycling and rubbish will also be collected.
